We are winding down the school year. We finished our testing in April, then Spiritual Awareness week, and now we are implementing Purity week. This is a form of sex education, but it is biblically delivered. We have a guest speaker spending 3 days in Denta to give the message to the girls. Her curriculum looks fabulous. Here is a sample of day 1.
DAY 1: IDENTITY | “Who Am I?”
Elementary
1. Temple Box Craft: Shoe box = temple. Decorate + put verse inside: 1 Cor 6:19. Point: “My body is God’s house.”
2. Mirror Declarations: Hand mirrors. Girls say: “I am fearfully made Ps 139:14.” Stickers on mirror with truth.
3. Red Light/Green Light Touch: Green = high five, side hug mom. Yellow = ask first. Red = NO. Practice shouting “STOP.”
Junior High
1. Lie vs Truth Wall: 2 columns. Lie: “I need a boyfriend to be happy.” Girls write truth from Bible to replace it: Ps 16:11 “In your presence is fullness of joy.”
2. Social Media Audit: In pairs, scroll their own feed. Count: How many posts make me pure vs impure? Phil 4:8 filter.
3. “Price Tag” Activity: Cheap necklace vs diamond. Which one is hidden, protected, waited for? Prov 31:10 “An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.”
We have begun the process of delivering rock, cement and sand to the school grounds. We will be clearing an area 70’x32′. This will be a multipurpose building for the action Bible class. Sandi Hullinger has been working with Samuel Twuleh to develop the dramas to perform to the student body. They meet under a thatched roof. This is also where promotion ceremony for parents, chapel and any other meeting they need will be conducted. There will be a dressing room, storage room and an office. This will allow the school to move their teacher work room to the dressing room and use that room for the 8th grade until we can build a couple more classrooms that will connect to the multi purpose room. The rock, sand and cement will also finish the floors in the main building. (finally!). It is quite a process to get deliveries to this remote area in Liberia. DK Yarl, our director of operations is negotiating all supplies and deliveries ongoing.
Please remember to pick up your letters when you see her in the foyer. Stamps are expensive!! Send your letters before Wednesday this week. She will have guest writers working on Thursday, June 18. She’d love some help. We are writing prayers to the children this month. Chat GPT works great if you need some help for a good summer break prayer at the age level of the child you are writing!
Thank dear Jesus for the blessing you are providing for this impoverished area of Africa. We pray that you would continue to guide the team as we make decisions for the future. Lord we praise your mighty name. Amen.
